Easter Treats

Good morning everyone. I hope you're enjoying the long weekend. My poor husband is full of a head cold (the flu according to him) so we'll be staying around the house today - which suits me because I've got a few card ideas in my head which I'd like to make.

At my last Stamp A Stack class the girls made these gorgeous little Easter Treats.

This little Sunnyboy container has little Easter Eggs in it - it would probably hold around 10 mini eggs and is a great gift idea. The container is made from a piece of 15cm x 15cm designer series paper.

The stamp set is Stampin' Up!'s A Good Egg from the current Idea Book and Catalogue. I just love this stamp set and pull it out each Easter. In the past I've also used the little circles stamp as bubbles on children's cards. The little chick is also cute on new baby cards - see, quite a versatile stamp set.

You can't see it from the photo's, but I've added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the egg shell and it's been stuck on with a dimensional. The chick has been stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured using ink and blender pens.

This is a great gift idea for neighbours, teachers, children, EVERYONE.

Extreme Surfboard

I currently have 5 (yes, 5) birthday party invitations stuck to my fridge for Bailey to attend. I made up a stack of these cards yesterday using the Extreme Surfboard stamp set.

This is a great stamp for boys of all ages - big and small. The image is stamped with Basic Black ink and I added a bit of faux stitching, tore the Basic Black card stock and distressed the Not Quite Navy card stock. I also spritzed Basic Black marker ink over the entire card when it was finished.

I'm sure the boys will never know that they've all received the same card from Bailey.....

Aviary Cute Stamp Set

It took me a little while to purchase this stamp set, but boy I'm glad I did. How coot are those little birds? I have a feeling I'll be whipping up quite a few cards with this set. This is a quick card I made for one of my hostesses.

The ribbon was a little tricky - you have to find a single thread at the end of your ribbon and pull it to give you the ruffled effect - and then stick it in place. I notice that my ribbon was a little crooked - darn it!

40th Birthday Cards

A friend recently asked me to make a 40th birthday card for a close friend of hers. The only request was that the card have the number 40 on it - the rest was up to me. Now, I love having creative licence like everyone else, but I always worry that my taste might not necessarily be my customers' taste.

I decided to make two cards and let her choose from them. This was the first card I made:

Which card do you think my friend chose? The blue and green one - phew, lucky I decided to make two cards.

Belated Valentine

These are a couple of the cards that we made at my last Stamp A Stack. I really love the owl two step punch. This was the card we all made for Valentine's Day:

And then we made a couple of little gift cards. It was great so see all the different coloured owls that the girls made.

Simple Birthday Thanks

Last year all three of my children had birthday parties (I know, what were we thinking??). With parties come gifts so I purchased the Simple Birthday Thanks stamp to make thank you cards for all the guests that attended each of the birthday parties - did I finish the cards - no - but that's another story....

Anyway, I was looking at the stamp the other day thinking it was a shame that I hadn't used it for it's intended purpose, and that I probably wouldn't use it again until we celebrated another birthday.

All of a sudden I realised that it didn't have to only be used as a thank you stamp.

Using a black marker I coloured all the lines of the cupcake that I wanted to stamp. I stamped the image onto pretty in pink and whisper white card stock, and bashful blue and whisper white card stock.

How cute are these cards?? I've now got a selection of cards on hand for the birthday parties my kids get invited to AND I'm using a stamp that I originally only thought could be used as a thank you stamp.

I've used the square lattice embossing folder (from the Summer Mini Catalogue) on so saffron card stock behind the cupcake. I love this embossing folder!! The numbers were created from the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies. I used red fine galaxy glitter as the sprinkles and the number and cherry were created with real red card stock.

I'd like to wish you all a very happy new year.

I hope you had a very merry Christmas and are surviving the rain that we are experiencing in many parts of Australia. Much of Queensland is suffering from floods and my prayers are for everyone who has been affected by the flooding.

I've been absent from blogging recently due to the many Christmas card orders I had prior to Christmas but, with that behind me, and the lovely holiday I've had with my family, I hope to return to more frequent blogging. Thanks for sticking with me!!

Melbourne Regionals

I'm back. I know.... two days in a row - don't faint!!

As promised, today I have some photos of a few of the swaps I received from some of the very talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who were at Melbourne Regionals on Saturday.

As you can see, I received quite a few swaps.

This is the card I made to swap. It's intended to be a male Valentine's Day card, but could also be used for his birthday, anniversary etc.

Of all the swaps I received, this was my fave. It was made by Leanne Spalliera.

Christmas Wreaths

Sorry I haven't posted for a little while. Busy with Chrissy "stuff", Regional swaps and work.

I have a couple of Christmas wreath cards to show you today. Now..... I can't take full credit for these cards as I've seen variations of them on other blogs. I love surfing the web and looking at what other talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators create.

This first card uses an old fave stamp set of mine - Pocket Silhouettes. I've used Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz ink and created the berries with red Fine Galaxy glitter.

This next card took a littler longer to create - okay, a whole lot longer to create. To save a bit of time I'm quite sure I could have punched out less leaves and it would look just as good. The leaves are punched from the two-step bird punch and the berries were punched from the two-step owl punch.

They're cute aren't they?

I attended Melbourne Regionals on Saturday (a seminar for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators) and can't wait to show you some of the fantastic swaps I received. I'll be back shortly with some photos for you to drool over.........

Owls In Love

I just love the two step owl punch. He is such a versatile little bird and can be used for both male and female cards. Here I've used it as a "love" card - valentines day, wedding, anniversary or even a birthday card for your other half.

In hindsight I shouldn't have used Early Espresso card stock as the background colour behind the owls because they were punched from Early Espresso too - but I'd stuck them down before I realised that the birds were lost a bit in the background - hohum - next time I'll do it different. Besides that, I really love this card. Soooooo cute.

Man Overboard

One of my very good friend's son recently celebrated a birthday. William loves the beach and so I wanted his card to have a fun beachy feel. This is what I came up with.......

I've used the Bigshot and Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies to create William's name. After each letter was glued into place I marked the them with my white gel pen. The clouds were sponged with white craft ink, as were the tips of each of the waves. The gel pen was also used to create a few water ripples. I'm not overly happy with the sun, but that was sponged too and then I used a marker to create the rays (hmmmmm - there has to be a better way to create a sun (lol)).

Apparently it's William's favorite card and he's (very generously) displayed this card at the front of the all of his other cards (yes, I'm honored!!)

Scraps of DSP

Use up your scrap pieces of designer series paper!

This is a fantastic way to use up those long strips of designer series paper you have lying around your desk. The original idea for the design of this card was taken from one of the gorgeous cards on the front of the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue.

I've punched strips of dsp with the Eyelet Border punch and glued the un-punched edge (does that make sense?) of the dsp strips to a piece of scrap card stock. Once the card stock was fully covered with the strips I ran it through the Bigshot with the Top Note die. I then ran my hand backwards over the scalloped edges of the dsp to lift the scallops off the page.

I'm really happy with how this card turned out - it's very "pretty".

Christmas Stamp-A-Stack

Last night I held my Christmas Stamp-A-Stack class - we made four cards and four Christmas tags.

This first card was made using the Delightful Decorations and Lovely as a Tree (one of my favs) stamp sets. We punched out the Christmas ornaments with the Ornament extra large punch and tied a piece of linen thread around the top of each one and added a dimensional to the back of them to give lift them off the tree. The Cherry Cobbler ornament has a rhinestone added to the centre of it to add a bit of bling - you know I love bling!!

This next card is a favorite from last year. The original card idea came from a swap I received from one of the very talented girls in a Stampin' Up! group that I belong to (I have misplaced the original swap, so if you were the talented girl, please let me know and I'll add your name here). Anywho.... this card was popular last year, so we made it again this year. The stamp set is (again) Lovely as a Tree and there is glitter glued to the "window frames" to look like banked snow. The sentiment is from Many Merry Messages - this stamp set covers all your sentiment needs for Christmas - love it!!

We then made four Chrismas tags using the Punch Pals stamp set. All the images were stamped with StazOn black ink and we then coloured the images with markers. How gorgeous will these look on gifts under the tree??

Cards in the Spotlight

At this month's Technique Tutorial we made cards using the spotlight technique. This technique is supposed to look like you are shining a light on to part of a stamped image to "light it up" - like it's in the spotlight.

Do you think we achieved this?

This first card uses the gorgeous hydrangea stamp from the the level 1 hostess stamp set Because I Care.

Here's a close up of the spotlight technique: This image was coloured with blender pens and ink from the fantastic selection of Stampin' Up!'s stamp pads.

For the second card we used another gorgeous stamp set, Elements of Style. I think I'll be using this stamp set for several more techniques so I hope you like it as much as me....

5 Petals

Have you noticed a bit of a theme with my cards lately? I'm loving flowers with leaves!

I whipped up these cards on Monday - okay, I wish I had just whipped them up - it took me all day to come up with these designs (my mojo is returning - but slowly (lol)).

I wanted to create four cards using a similar style. What do you think?

The flowers have been made using the 5-petal flower punch. I punched 4 flowers for each card and rubbed the top of each flower roughly with my stylus.

Each of the cards have been made on very vanilla and riding hood red card stock. For this first card I ran the top note shaped card stock through the polka dot embossing folder.

I used the top note die and the manhattan flower embossing folder on very vanilla card stock for this card.

The next two cards use the scallop circle die with the same embossing folders.

I cut the base of this card down a little to make it more square.

I've also used the colour spritzer tool and spritzed black ink onto some of the flowers. What do you think of the striped grosgrain ribbon? I really like it - it's old olive, so of course I like it (lol). I also like the large 3.2cm width - it adds a great dimension to the cards.

A Card For Dad

Here's a card I made for my Father-In-Law. I always struggle making cards for men (why don't they like pink and flowers??). After looking through my stamp sets I once again pulled out my trusty Lovely As A Tree set. How great is this set for masculine cards?

The base of the card is Kraft card stock (retired) which I've stamped the leaves onto with Chocolate Chip ink. I used my Big Shot and the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies to create the letters for DAD from Chocolate Chip card stock. I added Crystal Effects over the top of the letters to give them a glossy finish (after I assembled the card).

I cut a square of Chocolate Chip and Soft Suede card stock and layered on top of each other. I added some twine to create the squares and button embellishments (not all Stampin' Up!). I also used one of the leaves from Leaves #2 Originals Die for the Old Olive leaf - I scratched the leaf's veins into the card stock with my paper piercer and then sponged with Soft Suede ink.

Overall, I was very happy with the card. Happy Birthday Kev!!

A Change to Class Days

I will no longer be able to hold classes on Fridays due to having swimming lessons - yes, that's classes for me - not my children. Unfortunately, the only day the swim school can fit me in for a lesson is Fridays. So after discussing with my regular bunch of stampers, I've changed my class times to Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm.

Stamp-A-Stacks will now be held on the 2nd Tuesday evening of the month and
Technique classes will be held on the 4th Tuesday evening of the month.

October classes are as follows:

Stamp-A-Stack - October 12th, 7:30pm. The class will be themed for Christmas
Technique class - October 26th, 7:30pm. Watercolouring with crayons

Please remember to RSVP two days prior to classes so that I can cut up card stock for you.

A Blooming Quick Card

You know how sometimes you need a card in a hurry (because you've let your stash run low)?? Well this is a super quick and easy card to make. The stamp is from the Eastern Blooms set which I recently acquired. I've been borrowing my Sister-In-Law's set (thank's Trace) and thought it was probably time I got my own.

I stamped the image in black StazOn and punched out Riding Hood Red flowers from the Trio of Flowers punch - which has now been retired, but the small flower from the Boho Blossoms punch or Birds and Blooms Sizzlits Die would work just as well. I fixed the flowers in place with a black brad.

I then stamped the sentiment at the base of the flower and added a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds to the centre of the remaining flowers. Layered it onto some card stock and - whalla - done! How simple is that?

I hope you all have time to do some stamping this weekend. Family permitting, that's what I'll be doing. I think I've found my mojo again (AT LONG LAST!!).

Hydrangeas

I've seen a couple of these hydrangeas recently and decided I had to have a go at one. Thankfully, I found a video which the very talented Valita Reynolds (a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator) placed on You Tube.

The flowers are made with the large heart punch. I love the fact that you can use your punches to make all sorts of different things besides punching the obvious shape of the punch.

This is my take on the hydrangea and the card I made for it. What do you think?

Here is a close up shot of the hydrangea. I placed white brads in the centre of my flowers, but you can also place a circle of coloured card stock in the centre of each flower, as shown in Valita's video.

I also did my leaves a little different. I ran the paper piercer down the centre of each Old Olive heart and scratched veins into the card stock with the piercer. I then sponged Old Olive ink onto the leaves. I was happy with the end result.

Cracked Glass Technique Class

I thought I'd show you the cards we made at last month's cracked glass technique class. First off, a female card:

Sorry, the photo's aren't fantastic, so I'm not sure if you can see the cracked glass effect. The girls who did the class each coloured their butterflies in different colours and they all looked great.

And here's one for the boys:

They all crack differently, so it's always interesting to see how they turn out.

At this months class (which is being held this Friday (17th) we are doing the spotlight technique. I'll post some pictures of the cards we make next week (I'd better go and design them (lol)).

A Note Card

Sometimes you just need a card so that you can drop someone a note. I made this card for that purpose:

The card s supposed to look like an interoffice envelope or a security envelope, but I'm not sure that it really does??? Also, the picture isn't fabulous (sorry). I have used a sheet of Windsor Knot dsp and Rose Red cs. Okay, so not my best creation to date......

Caities Birthday

Where have I been, I hear you ask. Well, I've been organising my daughter's birthday. Caitlin turned 8 on Monday and had her birthday party at an indoor rock climbing venue.

We made her invitations (of course) but it was hard to decide on the style of invitation to suit the theme of her party (rock climbing). In the end we decided to go with an outdoors theme. For the girls' invitation we stamped the grass from the Inspired by Nature stamp set and then punched out butterflies from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set.

For the boys' invititation we used the Inspired by Nature stamp set and replaced the butterflies with stars

And then we made the lolly bags - 26 of them. I'm not sure if you can see the shape of them, but they look like Sunnyboy cartons (remember the Sunnyboy ice blocks we used to get in summer when we were children??)

We stamped each container with a thank you stamp from the Upsy Daisy stamp set

I can't believe my big girl is now 8. Everyone had a fantastic time at the birthday party and I would highly recommend indoor rock climbing if you want to tire your children out!!

Circle Circus

Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of weeks.

Two reasons.

Firstly, (and I mentioned this on my last post) I lost my mojo there for a little while. I'm pleased to report that it's slowly making itself known again so, with a bit of luck, I'll start churning out some decent looking cards and scrap pages again soon.

Second reason (and I'm tipping this is what made me lose my mojo in the first place (lol)) I've been caught up in the love triangle of Bella, Edward and Jacob. Yes, I'm talking about the Twilight series of books. I had read all of these books last year but, then I went and saw Eclipse at the cinema and that got me started back into them again. I was totally addicted. Anyways, I've finished all five books so my head should be in the right place for my cards again.

At our Stamp-A-Six-Stack on Friday we made some cute cards using the Circle Circus stamp set. I've been wanting to purchase this stamp since this current Catalogue was released but kept getting side-tracked into buying other things. I'm glad that I finally got around to ordering it - I LOVE IT!! This is a very versatile set as you can use it for both male and female cards

Nice aren't they? I've used colours which will be carried over into the new 2010-2011 Catalogue (can't wait to get it - starting to count down the sleeps).

New Baby

With the kids back at school and Mum safely back in Perth, I'm hoping life will take on a bit more of a "normal" feel again.

I haven't had much of an opportunity to stamp during the past three weeks and now I feel like I've lost a bit of my "mojo" - so please bear with me as I try and get back into the "stamping groove".

Over the holiday period a friend of mine had a new baby girl - her fourth child (!!!!). I couldn't quite decide what to get her as a gift, as she already has everything with this being her fourth child (!!!!) - so I decided to make her some thank you notes.

Firstly, I made a card for me to write in.

I then decided to follow along the same theme for the thank you cards

Of course, I had to have a cute little box to put the cards in

I made a total of ten little cards and popped them into the box with some small envelopes.

Card stock: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa (card)
Ink: StazOn Black, ink for shading - Pink Porouette, Pretty In Pink Going Gray

Not Enjoying This Weather!

I know we need the rain, but why can't it rain overnight and be glorious during the day - ESPECIALLY DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!! Please..... take pity on us poor mother's.

In an attempt to brush away the grey, gloomy clouds, I decided to make a "summery" card.

Unfortunately, the colours haven't really been captured in the photo. The card base is made with the lovely new Melon Mambo card stock. I've inked the flowers with Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery and Yoyo Yellow ink. The sentiment is from the Heard From the Heart stamp set which is available from the Autumn-Winter mini catalogue. How cute are those pearl centres? They are from the Pretties Kit.

Why don't you make something bright today too to brush away the gloomies.

First Scrapbook Class

Okay, so I'm a little late in posting the scrapbook pages I made for my first scrapbook class - but I have a good reason. My Mum arrived on Monday from Perth (yay) and we've been busy catching up (and eating copious amounts of chocolate).

My scrapbook page was inspired by Mum's visit. Earlier in the year I mentioned that Mum and Dad celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary (remember the puffy circle scallop flower card I made for their anniversary?), so I decided to scrap a page to celebrate their Anniversary.

I created two 12"x12" pages on Kraft card stock. I used several sheets of different designer series paper (dsp) from different dsp packs.

I wanted to make the pages look vintage so I distressted the edges of all the card stock, dsp and photos and daubed Chocolate Chip ink around the edges. I also tore some of the edges to give it a bit more of a vintage feel.

I used the Big Shot and the SU Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies to create all the lettering for the page. "40 years together" was cut from Very Vanilla card stock, but before I put the card stock through the Big Shot I stamped it with the hearts stamp from the Sprinkles stamp set with Chocolate Chip ink. After the letters were created I daubed the edge of each of them with Chocolate Chip ink and then gently (very gently) sponged the top of each letter with Chocolate Chip ink.

I wanted to add an additional colour to the page to brighten it up a little, so I used Kiwi Kiss coloured dsp to create "love". This also tied in with the SU Little Leaves dies which I placed under the flowers which were punched using the 5 Petal Flower punch.

The girls in the class were given the same card stock and dsp and it was fun to see the different completed pages.

A Baptism Card for a Boy

I've had a run of Baptism cards lately, but this time I had to make one for a baby boy.

I stamped the cross from the Special Blessing stamp set onto Bashful Blue card stock using white Kraft ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. I also stamped poka dots onto the Whisper White card stock base and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used the Top Note die to cut out the Whisper White and Bashful Blue top notes. I've trimmed the white top note and then run it half way through the Polka Dot embossing folder. I then tied a piece of white ribbon around it and adhered the cross to the card with dimensionals. Using a marker I coloured the "Baptism" word from the Special Blessing stamp set and stamped it twice onto Whisper White card stock - they were then punched out using the Medium Jewelry Tag punch and tied onto the white ribbon using a piece of linen thread.

Stamp-A-Six-Stack

I held my first Stamp-A-Six-Stack workshop on Friday. The girls made six cards (three different designs, two of each design) and these are the cards we made. The idea for these cards came from a swap which I received from Nikki Spencer (thank you Nikki, your swap was lovely).

This is very similar to Nikki's swap. Isn't it gorgeous - a bit vintage I thought.

And these two cards were inspired by the colour scheme of the above card.

Faux Stitching Technique Class

How lovely are these two cards which we made at my techniques class on Friday? We faux stitched with white and chocolate chip faux stitches.

The first card is stamped with the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set (an oldie, but a goodie). We versamarked the flower first and then used the co-ordinating two-step stamp and stamped the chocolate chip flower over the top of the versamark flower.

The second card uses the Boho Blossoms punch (on special until the end of Tuesday). The Kiwi Kiss ribbon has been pleated and glued into place with mini glue dots.

Don't forget that technique classes are held on the first Friday of every month. This Friday is Stamp-A-Six-Stack. Click on the CLASSES tab at the top of this page for more information on my classes.

I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that Megan Black has joined my team and is now a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

I first met Megan about a year ago at a demonstration - she was a scrapbooker and had made a few cards. Embellishments

So, the other thing that I want to speak to you about today is embellishments. I love them !! Embellishments come in various shapes and sizes and can be used in all sorts of different ways. Clips, designer brads, hodgepodge hardware, ribbons, buttons, tags, flowers, letters, etc, etc, etc. Add an embellishment to your card or scrapbook page to give it that finishing touch.

Stampin' Up! have a fantastic range of embellishments. Personally, I love ribbon, and the Stampin' Up! ribbon is available in a variety of widths and Stampin' Up! colours.

This Baptism card uses ribbon (of course), a button and Hodgepodge.

Colour Renovation

Sorry for my sporadic posts lately. I'm back on track again now and promise to post on a more regular basis.

Firstly today I want to discuss a new colour palette Stampin' Up! are introducing with the new 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue. The new colours are organised into four collections: Subtles, Brights, Regals and Neutrals. 25 of our current colours will remain and 10 past In Colours will return as core colours, plus there'll be 5 additional new core colours. Click here to view the new colour palette. In addition to the new colour chart, each year Stampin' Up! will introduce 5 new In Colours and they will remain for 2 years. This means that the 2010-2011 In Colours will be introduced this year, but will not be retired until the 2012-2013 colours are introduced. This year there will be only 5 In Colours, but after that, there will always be 10 (the previous year's plus the new 5). Exciting hey!!

In order to make way for the new colours we will have to say farewell to a few of our current colours (thankfully not Chocolate Chip or Old Olive - you know these are two of my faves). Adding Colour

I love adding colour to my stamps to give an image a two tone effect (or more, depending on how many colours you use).

On this Upsy Daisy card I stamped the whole image with a Pink Pirouette ink pad and then, using a dauber, I daubered (is that a word) the top of each flower with Rich Razzelberry ink. You simply take your dauber, dab it onto your stamp pad and add the ink to your stamp.

On this Pocket Silhouettes card I used my dauber to add several different colours - Old Olive for the stems and leaves, Cameo Coral for the petals and Rich Razzelberry for the centre of the flower.

Here's another Upsy Daisy card, but this time I used my markers to add colour to the stamp. I love my markers!! For this card I used the Old Olive, Not Quite Navy and Chocolate Chip. The markers are really easy to use.

Don't you just love the Hodgepodge Hardware? It sets off this message beautifully. I'm going to send this card to Mum and Dad in Perth.

Embossing Folders

Have I mentioned that I'm thoroughly enjoying my new Big Shot? Yeah, I know.... only a hundred times!!

These are a couple of cards that I made a little while ago. I've used the Stampin' Up! Textured Impressions Embossing Folders which create a deep embossed image.

I'm thinking I might add a "Happy Mother's Day" message to this Manhattan Flower card and send it to Mum.

I've already given this Perfect Polka Dots card away to one of my regular customers (hi Rachel), so had better make another.

Baby Cards

Now for a couple of cute baby cards. I don't have the need to make many of these anymore, so it's always fun when I do. I have to confess that I've cased the baby boy card from a magazine, and then I created the baby girl card along the same lines. Both cards are made on a Kraft card base which has been embossed half way with the SU Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and I've used the Nursery Necessities stamp set.

Maureen's Thank You Cards

Hi there, sorry it's been a few weeks since my last post. What with Easter, the whole family having gastro, school going back and an intense swimming programme for the kids, I haven't really had much time to update my blog. Okay, apologies over, I'll show you what I have found time to do.

Do you remember the card and gift voucher holder that I made for a friend's 60th birthday? (click here if you don't). Well, Maureen liked the card so much that she asked me to make her thank you cards in the same colours and layout. This is what I came up with...

I've embossed Whisper White card stock with the SU Perfect Polka Dots textured impressions embossing folder and adhered it to a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock.

The flower is cut from the new Vintage Vogue stamp set using the Rich Razzleberry and Orchid Opulence stamp pads. I've adhered the flower with a brass brad to Orchid Opulence and Rich Razzleberry card stock and a piece of the new Rich Razzleberry polka dot grosgrain ribbon. The gorgeous leaf has been cut from the SU Little Leaves sizzlits die and glued behind the flower. I stamped the thank you message from the new Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set and punched it out with the window punch. Maureen was very happy with the end result.

Ohh - did I mention that she needed 45 of them!!

For this blog hop I've made several things to share with you. A pillow-box, a scrapbook page and a card.

Elegant Pillow-Box

This cute little box was created with my brand new Big Shot die-cutting machine (yes, I'm a little excited about having it). Using Elegant Eggplant card stock, I cut out the image with the pillow-box die and then randomly stamped the large flower from Vintage Vogue onto it with Elegant Eggplant ink. I decided to purchase this stamp set in the new clear mount rubber stamps and I think I've been converted!!

To embellish the box I used the Stampin' Up! Little Leaves Sizzlits Die to cut the leaf from Certainly Celery card stock and tied Certainly Celery ribbon around the centre of the box. I then used the Buttons # 5 Sizzlits Die to cut out the button and gave it a gloss with Crystal Effects.

This box is a perfect size for popping in a small piece of jewellery as a gift. It would also be a great way to present a small gift for hostesses (would you like one?)

Cup Cake Scrapbook Page

I haven't been scrapping for long, but I must confess that when I do make a page, I thoroughly enjoy it. This page was created of Holly, my youngest (of 3) children. Bailey joined his big sister, Caitlin, at school this year which means that Holly and I have lots of quality time together. On this particular day we decided to make cup cakes. They were delicious...

One of the biggest reasons (but who really needs a reason- right?) why I LOVE the Big Shot is because of the alphabet dies. These are great!! Even if you don't scrapbook, but you like to add names to cards - these are a must.

For this page I've used several sheets of the Cottage Wall designer series paper as the background and for the lettering. The squares are cut from Rich Razzleberry (one of the new colours) and I've stamped the flowers from the Vintage Vogue stamp set (this is my new fav).

A few brads, ribbon and the scallop edge punch have been used to embellish. Overall, I'm really happy with the final page.

Lots of Bots Robot Card

For this card I've used the Lots of Bots stamp set. This is a great set and I'm sure it will get a lot of use this year (due to having a 6 year old son).

I've used Pacific Point card stock for the background and I crimped a piece of silver card stock to add some texture. I would have liked to have used silver eyelets but I didn't have any so had to make do with the black ones. I coloured the image in with ink and blender pens.

Bailey thinks it's a "cool" card, so I guess that's good.

Of course, I've put my some of my new "stuff" to good use already. A very good friend of our family (Maureen) will turn 60 this week and I've made a gorgeous card for her (even if I do say so myself). What do you think of the new colour? This is just one of three of the new colours in the new mini catalogue (but I'll be able to discuss this in more detail with you on the 1st).

I'm addicted to flowers at the moment, so this is another card with a big puffy flower - but check out the textured background (told you.... you're going to lurve it). And the numbers - way too easy!

As a gift, we purchased for Maureen two Gold Class tickets to the movies, so I also made a holder for the tickets to sit in to match the card.

Here are a couple of cards I've made using the Happy Moments stamp set. Both images have been coloured using markers. I've hung the bird cage from the tree branch of the Cheep Talk stamp set using linen thread and added a dimensional behind the cage. I recently made this card as part of a workshop and everyone was surprised how quick and easy it was to make.

Cute Little Card Storage Tote

I recently came across a gorgeous card storage tote, designed by Lynda Moss, a very talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I just loved it and had to have a go at making one for myself. I'm delighted with the outcome.

These will make fantastic gifts for kinder and school teachers this Christmas!! (Phew, that's several gifts sorted).

Mojo Monday 129

I decided to enter a sketch challenge to get my creative juices flowing. You know how sometimes you just can't seem to create anything that looks good - well that happened to me when I sat down to make my Mother-in-law's birthday card (and that's a card you want to look good (lol)). So I took a peek at the Mojo Monday blog site and decided to make a card using their sketch for this week.

My regular customers will tell you that I'm an "Earth Elements" girl from way back when, so I must confess that most of my cards incorporate these gorgeous colours.

For this particular card I've used Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White card stock. The designer series paper is from the Sweet Nothings Simply Scrappin' kit (love it!!). I've used the Cheep Talk stamp set and coloured the image using the Ruby Red, Old Olive and Choc Chip markers. I've also used a small piece of Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon and "scrunched" a small flower together using the 3/4" circle punch (as per my instruction on my previous entry).

40th Wedding Anniversary

Mum and Dad celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary yesterday and I'm really happy with the card that I made for this special occasion.

As you know, the 40th Wedding Anniversary is a Ruby Anniversary so I used Riding Hood Red card stock on Whisper White card stock and made these gorgeous flowers with Bella Rose designer series paper.

I placed a red button (from the Button Bouquet set) on top of a piece of Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon. The sentiment is stamped from the Fun and Fast Notes stamp set.

Finally, I distressed all edges of the card stock and paper pierced the edges of the white card stock.

To make the flowers you will need to punch 6 - 8 scallop circles from designer series paper and place a brad in the centre of each stack. You will then scrunch the paper up around the brad to create the flower. Cut a leaf shape out and glue under the flowers (I scrunched the leaf too).

I made a little box to place the card in - the card didn't fit into an envelope because the flowers sit up quite high (doh!!).

The parcel arrived in Perth safe and sound and Mum and Dad both loved their cards and gifts.

A Few More Boy's Cards

It's always difficult to come up with a boy's cards. Personally, I like making pretty cards with butterflies and flowers (you know, all things girly), so when I've got to design a card for boys I stumble a little. Anyway I came up with these which I'm quite pleased with. Thank goodness for my star punches and the Sweet Treat Cups.

These two cards use the large star punch. Select your coloured card stock and punch out your star. Add a piece of designer series paper behind the punched out star and adhere to more card stock. Stamp your birthday message. Pretty simple.

A friend asked me to make a card for a 10 year old boy, so for this card I've used a Sweet Treat Cup (again) and used it to make up the number 10. I placed two sour bombs inside the cup (which should please a 10 year old). I also wrapped some twine across the card to make it look a little bit more grown up. I was quite pleased with the final card.

Hope you're having a nice weekend. I've made my parent's 40th Wedding Anniversary card today but won't post it here until the day of their anniversary (just in case they peek). I can't wait to show you - I'm really happy with it (a bit different to my usual cards).

My nephew celebrated his 6th birthday on Sunday so I pulled out the sweet treat cups and used them for the first time. The slip of red card on the left hand side pulls out to reveal the M&Ms inside the cup - no need to tear the card apart to get to them. I'm happy to report that the card was a great success.

My Dad is having a BIG birthday tomorrow. He'll be 60! As I've mentioned before Mum and Dad live in Perth at the moment so I decided to make him a card with a photo of all of us on it (no stamping!!). Like Paul's Valentines Day card (which he liked by the way), I've used Baja Breeze textured card stock, Chocolate Chip and Kiwi Kiss card stock, Chocolate Chip ribbon and brass brads. I punched out some photo corners and added them to the corners of the photo too. I also shaded the edges of the Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss with Chocolate Chip ink. I hope he likes it when he receives it in the morning. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!

PS - I received a Pandora charm for Valentine's Day. How gorgeous is my husband??

Valentine's Day

I made this card for my husband for Valentine's Day. I made several cards for Valentine's Day and then realized that they were all pink and feminine - not for my husband at all. This card is quite plain but gets the message across don't you think.

I've used Baja Breeze textured card stock with Chocolate Chip card stock, chocolate chip satin ribbon, the heart punch and I {Heart} Hearts stamp set. The sentiment is one of the rubons from the Summer Mini Catalogue. I've stamped the love heart twice, cut them out and glued both hearts (back to back) to a piece of twine which I've glued to the centre of the punched out heart.

February's Technique Class

This month's technique class is the chalkboard technique. This is such a great way to create colourful cards and scrap pages. Classes start at 7:30pm (my home) and cost $15.00. You'll learn the technique and create 3 cards using the new technique. Please email or call me if you would like to attend. School's Back

The first week of school for 2010 is over. Caitie has settled into Grade 2 very nicely and Bailey, who started Prep, seems to be enjoying school, although he wants to know (already) when school holidays start - lol. Holly has started "big kinder" but with that whole transitional thing happening - you know, an hour this week, an hour and a half next week...... So - with the kids at school I'm really hoping that I'll get a few more hours for stamping (fingers crossed).

This week I had an order of 30 cards to make for a Real Estate Agent. So, between school, kinder and catching up with the other mums for coffee (lol) I made the cards and forgot to take photos of them (doh!!). I've attached a couple of photos of a few that I'd made from a previous order. I've used the Neighborhood jumbo wheel with various different designer series papers and card stock.

I have a few cards to make this month - Dad's 60th, hubby's 40th, a nephew's birthday and of course Valentine's Day. I'm also planning this month's technique class - Chalking Technique. With a bit of luck I'll get a couple of hours today to get started - we'll see.....

Project 1 - A Scrapbook Page
I've scrapped a page of my immediate family. Caitlin (7yo daughter) took this photo at Christmas with her new camera (another scrapbooker in the making (lol)). We don't very often get the opportunity to all be together (Mum and Dad are currently living in Perth), so I am delighted with this page.

I just love how bright and colourful this page is. I've used quite a few products from the Summer Mini Catalogue to create this page.

Project 2 - A New Baby Boy

I haven't had the need to make many baby cards lately, so I enjoyed making this card for a change from the usual birthday cards.

I think the glitter around the edges of the images looks lovely, unfortunately the photo doesn't quite show it off.

Hello again.

Thought I'd pop in and show you a birthday card I created using the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper (I really love this paper). I've selected Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White card stock as my colour bases. Then, simply hole punch your desired paper, lay them out and da daa. I've added a couple of Designer Buttons and Chocolate Chip ribbon too to embellish. The Birthday stamp is from the Upsy Daisy stamp set and I've stamped it using Riding Hood Red ink.

I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year's Eve!

I have had a wonderful break with my husband and children. We spent Christmas day and the following week celebrating Christmas with our families and after the new year we spent some time with Paul's family in Ocean Grove. We spent a lot of time at the beach which was fantastic. The evenings were spent drinking copious amounts of alcohol and eating all those delicious things that you know you're going to regret later...... yep, gotta lose a couple of kilos now. I'm now feeling very relaxed and ready to start 2010.

I recently took part in another "swap" (a small group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators make a

card and we give each other a copy of the card we have made). We each had to design a card using products from the new Summer Mini Catalogue.

This is the card I designed. I've used the I {heart} Hearts stamp set and the 3/4" Polka-Dot Grosgrain ribbon from the summer mini. I stamped the hearts using Real Red, Tangerine Tango and Pretty in Pink ink. The card stock is textured Tangerine Tango, Real Red and Whisper White. Unfortunately the photo doesn't show the colours as they really are.

The hearts were punched out using the Heart to Heart punch and then glued onto the Whisper White card. I added a dimensional to the larger hearts.

Valentine's Day covered!!

14 Demonstrators took part in the swap, so I had to make 14 cards - yes a lot of punching!!

I will post a photo of the cards I received from the other Demonstrators. They are lovely.

Another Christmas Gift Idea

Do you have a lot of gifts to buy for teachers? I do. 12 to be exact. This is usually a costly experience, however, this year I decided to make them all a set of Christmas gift tags (and a few will also receive the covered note books I showed you earlier). I packed the tags into a cello bag and prettied it up to look all Christmassy (I know that's not a word). I'm sure they'll be pleased with them. I've used glitter on all the tags to add a bit of sparkle.

Get Well

I said I'd be back. Can you believe it? And so soon too. Let's hope I can keep this up....

My father-in-law was recently admitted to hospital to have an operation. Thankfully he is okay and making a speedy recovery. To help cheer him up the kids and I made him get well cards. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the cards the kids made (in fact Holly lost her card before we even got a chance to give it to Pa, let alone take a photo of it - lol) but they were all very cute and Pa enjoyed them.

I made my card using the Lovely As A Tree stamp set. You really can't go past this stamp set for male cards in my opinion. It is a versatile set and could be used for cards for Christmas, sympathy, get well, retirement, thank you - you get the picutre, it's a versatile stamp set.

I've also used the Weathered background stamp which, again, I think is great to use for male cards.

Cardstock - Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive.

I've coloured the tree using markers (Chocolate Chip and Old Olive) and used a dauber with Chocolate Chip ink to colour the edges of all the card stock.

Finally, I punched out a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock with the large oval punch and adhered it to the bottom edge of the card and then added a clip with a piece of linen thread tied to it over the Choc Chip punch. I then stamped Get Well Soon (not sure now which stamp set this was from), punched it out and added it to the card with a dimensional.

It's Been A While....

Hi there. It's been a while since I've posted anything here, so firstly I apologise for that. I've been busy filling Christmas card orders (approx 1500), making wedding invitations, mass books and name place cards and, on top of all that, building up my card stock for a fete at my daughter's school (plus workshops, and my other job...). Excuses, excuses, I know. My aim is to be a lot more faithful to this blog in the future (a New Year's Resolution perhaps?).

I've got a few things to share with you over the next couple of days. First of all I thought I'd show you the wedding card I made for a close friend who got married on Saturday.

Do you have children? If yes you can't go past the All In The Family stamp set. My children are school and kindergarten aged (and one approaching kindergarten) so there are a lot of birthday party invitations.

I love using this stamp set for childrens' birthday cards. Stamp an image of either a boy or girl using the cute stamps and colour the picture in using the Stampin' Write Markers or Stampin' Pastels to look like the birthday girl/boy. Add the birthday child's name to personalize the card using the alphabet stamps.

From Picture To Page

This weekend gone I was lucky enough to take part in the From Picture to Page Show, a scrapbook and papercraft show, which was held in East Burwood.

Stampin' Up! had a fabulous display, full of wonderful creations. I was inspired to get creating and I'm planning to update my display to include more 3-D items (beautiful boxes, bags and albums).

During the day I showed how to make this Santa card which is part of my Christmas workshop. Many people stopped to watch, and several people bought the samples. It's a cute card which was given to me as part of a swap which I took part in. A big thanks to Leanne who I cased the card from.

So sorry I haven't posted for several days. My computer threw a hissy and wouldn't let me log onto the internet or get my emails..... can you imagine how frustrated I have been??

Anyway, I'm back online and thought I'd share the Father's Day card I made for my Dad. I had to make his card earlier than I usually do (the night before the card is required) because Mum and Dad are in Perth and the card had to be mailed. I'm sure he'll like it (and the licorice).

Sorry the photo isn't so great. I took it in the evening, hence the shadows from the overhead light. I used Pacific Point ink to colour On Board Loads of Letters and also added some silver brads. Happy Father's Day Dad!

Just Beachy

Sorry, I haven't posted anything for several days - I've been busy making cards.

Party Hearty

Today is my brother-in-law's birthday. This is the card I quickly whipped up for him. I've used the Party Hearty stamp set. I recently purchased the cutter kit and I LOVE the distressing tool - I don't think I've made a card lately which hasn't been distressed. It's really good if you cut a piece of card stock crooked - just distress the edges and no one is any the wiser (just a little trick between us). Happy Birthday Matt.

Spiral Pop Up Card

My sister-in-law, Tracy, came for a visit today and she's just as crazy about making cards as me. I introduced her to Stampin' Up! and the rest was history - she even has some stamp sets that I don't have (humph). Anyway, we decided to give the spiral pop-up card a try. It's Caitlin's (eldest daughter) birthday on Sunday so I made a card for her. What do you think?

Here is this inside of it. Can you see the little spiral with the butterflies on it? It opens out when the card opens.

And here is Tracy's gorgeous card. Maybe I'll get it for my birthday in a couple of weeks??

Cute Birthday Invitations

At a demo I ran on Saturday (Hi Jeanene) we made an invitation instead of a card (just for a change). The invitation is made with the new Introducing stamp set, on page 8 of the Spring Mini. As soon as I saw this stamp set I knew I'd have to have it - having three children creates lots of birthday party invitations to make up over the next several years.....

The invitations were placed into pink envelopes which were trimmed at one end with a half circle punch for little fingers to easily pull out the invitation. The birthday girl was stamped onto the front of it using the All In The Family and Family Favourites stamp sets. She is coloured in using Stampin' Pastels.

What little girl wouldn't love to receive this invitation??
